Before getting into how to use the system, first I’ll mention what can be done with it in its current state.
The system allows the user to create up to 32 rooms at one time, each room with interactive details. By interactive details I refer to details coded into each room, such as floors, walls, furniture, or whatever you wish to create. You may then interact with said details, sit on them, touch them, etc. The controller device handles switching each coded scene, and also allows you to emit text directly to everyone in the VR room, as well as change the scene in real time. The rooms are not connected by exits, but instead rely on the controller device and current operator to switch scenes.
Each VR room needs to be reserved by whomever is running a scenario. Think of it like that character is the GM or Host of that particular room, at that specific time. They control what scenes get changed, what emits are sent to players, choices are made, etc.
Possible uses which may be of interest:
Character Plots – now you can create scenes + details to support any plots you want to play with your friends. If you use the in-game roller or @action command, you can run a scenario similar to a tabletop game.
IC training exercises — practice hunting techniques, strategies or any ic scenarios you wish.
Personal Areas – want to take a stroll on the beach, live in a fancier apartment, or explore areas that your character can’t gain access to? Well, you can make such rooms now (albeit in VR/holographic form).
The system also allows you to code in decision branches. A more common term for this would be a ‘Choose your own Adventure’ type of system.
You can create stories using this format, and each choice is shown as a hyperlink in the scenario. You can then upload these scenarios for other players to download and play, or if you wish, just store them on memory card and give to a select few.
Embedded hyperlinks are also supported, if you with to format your text in hypertext form.
Each VR room is limited to 12 choices (which should be plenty) and the programming tablets currently support up to 32 rooms.
A general note: the flash client may not work so well with hyperlinked VR rooms, so use zealotry or possibly alice if you wish to use this system.
